It's A Wonderful Life
June 17th, 2013 -- You Don't Always Get What You Wish For, You Get What You WORK For!
At my good friend Kacie’s workout studio, Guiding Fitness, she has some motivational sayings hanging on the walls and one of my favorites is “You don’t always get what you wish for, you get what you work for.” SO TRUE!!!!
This doesn’t just apply to fitness, this saying applies to life in general. If you aren’t taught great work ethic, you become just a dreamer. A dreamer without doing the work for your dream to come true just becomes a dream. Dreams are awesome to have, but in order for them to come true you HAVE to work toward making them happen. Think about all the things we say we wish for…
· Being thinner
· Being stronger
· Having more money
· Taking trips
· New house
· Owning own business
· Getting married
· Having children
· Finding a new job
· Start a new career
· More family time
· More time with friends
· Getting out of debt
· Saving money
· Living somewhere else
· Being smarter
· Taking charge of your own life
The list can go on and on with what we have said we wish for and what we have heard others say they wish for. Sadly the majority of folks will only use words and take no action. Words are meaningless if not backed up with action. You can wish all day long that you were thinner guess what it takes, action and work to make that happen, not just saying the words ‘I wish I was’….insert whatever it is that you have been telling yourself, possibly for years. Or maybe you were actually never taught that you have to work for what you want in this life. Sometimes you have to work weeks, months or years toward what it is you want. That’s life.
The journey people, we are missing out on the sweet journey. That is where all the magic happens during the journey to what it is we want, yes once its accomplished that feels awesome, so does the process of getting there. And I know it doesn’t always feel great and sometimes it feels downright rotten on the road to your goals, dreams but its where you learn, grow become an even better stronger more appreciative person. And the funny thing about it is once you reach that goal you remember the struggle in getting there but the pain is gone. And you just sit there looking back on the journey with a smile realizing it was what and how it was supposed to be even if it didn’t always feel good.
If you don’t start working toward what you are wishing for, you will remain at the starting line. And as you do that you will just sit and watch other people going past you at the starting line making it to the finish and all the while you are still at the starting line wondering why nothing happens for you, wondering why others get what they want, its cause they start and do the work. Tomorrow is today, get it. You keep telling yourself I will start tomorrow well today istomorrow because you already said you would start today which was your yesterday and now it’s your today and soon it will be your tomorrow….see how crazy this is when you keep putting your life off.
It’s truly great what you will see come together and how God or the Universe (depending on your beliefs) bring more your way. But only when you have started the work, are taking the steps toward your goals, dreams, desires. You will be amazed at the doors that open, and or the changes that are made within you that bring to reality what you have not only been wishing for but working toward…Wonderful!
