Round 2 Of Rob's Summer Vacation Photos Week #2 of our summer vacation was spent, spontaneously, in Monterey. Seven years ago my wife and I were married at the Monterey Bay Plaza and since a horrible customer service incident in 2004, we have never been back. After a week of vacation I realized that I need to get the hell out of town so Janell called the Plaza and gave them one chance to win us back. She talked them down from $2500 per night to $1300 per night for their presidential suite, where we spent the nights of, before and after our wedding, so back we went. The suite comes in just over 2,000 square feet with this main room as you enter. Just off the main room is the bar, which I stocked nicely with some fantastic wine that we brought from home The master bedroom has its’ own patio access, fireplace, TV and walk in closet The master bath is covered in tile and has an oversized Jacuzzi tub, giant shower (big enough for two, thank you) and a separate bathroom with a toilet and one of those weird European things that I refuse to use. The giant well sized patio is totally private on the roof of the hotel and includes a hot tub, plenty of seating and outdoor surround sound. The point of the trip was to relax, not sight-see. Here I am enjoying the TV, which happens to have the baseball game Arnie was at in Chicago on! We texted each other, trying to spot him on TV, but the blimp was as close as I came. This is our pet seagull that we named AFLAC since he wouldn’t shut-up, that spent the week hanging out with us and getting fed leftovers. And yes, we know that the AFLAC duck is a duck. You shut-up. When we weren’t sleeping, eating, drinking and doing it, we played games like Yahtzee/ I hate this game but my wife loves it and I seem to be good at it. After I rolled my third Yahtzee in the same game my wife got annoyed…and who wouldn’t? I beat her 624-198. Ha ha. Much of my relaxation time came soaking my troubles away in the giant Jacuzzi bubble bath. The giant picture window that looks out from the bathtub provides this view of the Bay and some sleeping Sea Lions
We did leave the room a few times for some nice meals. Here are dressed up and ready to go.
This is an awesome picture of me that the camera accidently took while I was carrying it. This is a fun game we played off of one our balconies throughout the week…it’s called “Find the otters.” Sea otters are all over, eating and playing in the Bay. We also spent a day at the Spa on site; I got a 90 minute massage and a 50 minute facial and was quite relaxed afterwards. Eventually I found my way to the outdoor hot tub on the roof And then into my robe and into a drink We had room service 3 nights and went out for two dinners…this is the beginning of night #2 And this is how I began every morning…on our rooftop patio with the paper, fresh made coffee and the Pacific Ocean
