Round 3 Of Rob's Summer Vacation Photos
Renovations At Williams Manor & A Last Minute Dinner Party
July 31st, 2009

Part of my summer vacation included some home improvements and an impromptu dinner party…to show off the home improvements! Enjoy!

Write this number down. JB Electric is a locally owned and operated family business that we have been using for years now for all of our electrical needs. They are meticulous, hard working and best of all…honest!

Here is the “B,” in JB Electric, Andy Badertscher (The “J” was Andy’s dad). Andy is the tall one who is “overseeing” and “supervising” Jonathon as all of the actual work is done. By the way, congrats to Andy who recently bought the entire company from his parents!

Props to Jonathon, who not only worked his ass off and is a new daddy (or about to be, I can’t remember…whatever), but is also responsible for recommending a superb Bose Home Theater system that raised the entertainment level of Williams Manor to a whole new level!

Eventually, Andy knelt down to make it appear as though he was interested in helping Jonathon, which indicates that Andy is a great boss.

7-19: So what are the boys doing to our house you ask? They are installing theater surround sound throughout the entire villa…Bedroom, office, family room, game room, dining room  kitchen, outside…all equipped with ceiling mounted speakers in less than 3 business days. And they left the house spotless every day when they left. Try finding contractors that actually clean up after themselves…they’re a rare breed.

As for the actual system, only guys and dorks care about this stuff, but I had Andy send me the specs anyways so you wouldn’t e-mail me and ask questions I can’t answer. Here’s what he sent over:

22 in-ceiling Polk Audio RC60i 6.5” speakers mounted thru the house
Office 2 speakers
Kitchen 4 speakers
Family room 6 speakers
Pool table room 2 speakers
Dining room 2 speakers
Master bedroom 4 speakers
Master bathroom 2 speakers

4 Outdoor Polk Audio Atrium 60s mounted underneath the patio cover

One Russound R1250MC 12 channel amplifier
One Russound R850MC, 8 Channel multiple room amplifier
Each amplifier produces 50watts per channel

4 Niles auto muting volume controls (master bath, master bedroom, patio, office)
4 Niles single room volume controls (pool room, dining room, kitchen, family room)
2,500ft of 14 gauge speaker wire UL listed for installation in walls and attics
1 Niles 12v hub for the auto muting devices

The entire installation took 70 man hours to complete, with the outdoor speakers consuming 16 hours to complete due to the location difficulty.  Despite the large quantities of speaker wire all the wire is neatly stapled and wire tied securely in the attic with a central backbone of the wires running directly over the hallway that connects both halves of the home together.

Jonathon (once again doing all of the work!) cutting the holes in my office ceiling for the speakers.

Poor Andy…I am being way too hard on him. As Jonathon fists my wall, poor Andy is in our 185 degree attic crawl space feeding wires down to him. At the end of the day, Andy weighed 4 pounds.

Once the new surround sound was installed, we realized that we had to show it off, but we didn’t want to throw an actual “party,” so instead we called a few friends (and Dawn too) and had them come over for snacks and food and of course, music through the ceiling!

These are our neighbors Ken and Sherry. Ken is a cop so keep your mouth shut.

Here is world famous Chiropractor-to-the-stars, Dr. Ron Sherrod, of Placer Spine and Body in Rocklin, adjusting my dog Nellie.

Dr Ron thought Shep needed an adjustment as well, but all Shep needs adjusted is his attitude.

Later, Ron found his way outside…where he was still able to listen to the surround sound system, thank you very much!

You see, no matter where you go now…outside, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, family room, bar, bathroom…even the game room…sounds comes from the ceiling!

This is as close as my wife gets to motherhood…holding Dr Ron’s boy, Jack!

This was a really good idea on my part (insert sarcasm alarm here). I bought some of that silly blue dye to make our ponds more festive…they got really really blue. They’re still blue, 3 weeks later.

This is the princess of the home, Cabernet doing yoga.

This is the bitch of the home, Parker, guarding my wife’s Prada purse.
